Gary Numan's UK Exile Tour took place in October and November 1997 in support of his thirteenth solo studio album, Exile, released on 20 October 1997 by Eagle Records. Reaching No. 48 in the UK album chart, Exile continued the darker industrial rock direction established on Sacrifice in 1994, exploring religious themes through songs including Dominion Day, Dark, Dead Heaven, Absolution and An Alien Cure.
The 14-date UK tour opened at Southampton Guildhall on 25 October and concluded at London's Shepherds Bush Empire on 9 November 1997. The itinerary covered 14 venues across England and Scotland, with an estimated travelling distance of 1,674 miles. The final concert was recorded and later issued as the live album Live at Shepherds Bush Empire in 2004.
A tour programme featuring concert dates, band personnel, photographs and extracts from Numan's autobiography was produced for the shows. The UK dates were followed by European and North American legs of the Exile Tour in 1998.
