Gary Numan returned to touring in 2006 with Jagged, his first album of new material since Pure in 2000. Released in the UK on 13 March through Mortal Records and Cooking Vinyl, the album carried his industrial rock sound forward with a stronger electronic edge and prominent live drums. Its arrival followed several years in which personal commitments, record-label difficulties and the pressure of producing a successor to Pure had delayed new material.
A special album-launch performance was held at London's Forum on 18 March 2006 and was subsequently released as Jagged Live. The main Jagged Tour began at Birmingham Academy on 19 April and ended at the House of Blues in Anaheim, California, on 23 August. Across its UK, European and North American dates, the tour visited 43 venues in ten countries, covering an estimated 11,243 miles.
The concerts placed new songs such as “Jagged,” “Halo,” “Haunted,” “In A Dark Place” and “Pressure” alongside material from Pure and earlier favourites including “Cars,” “Down In The Park” and “Are 'Friends' Electric?” A printed tour programme accompanied the shows.
