Gary Numan’s Skin Mechanic Tour was a 14-date UK tour in October 1989, associated with the release of his live album The Skin Mechanic. The album captured a performance recorded at London’s Dominion Theatre on 28 September 1988, during the previous year’s Metal Rhythm Tour.
The 1989 tour began on 12 October at the Dominion Theatre in London and concluded on 26 October at London’s Hammersmith Odeon. Its 14-venue itinerary took in England, Wales and Scotland, covering approximately 1,499 miles.
The tour followed the release of Metal Rhythm in 1988 and provided a further opportunity to present material from that period alongside established favourites. The accompanying live album offered a record of the preceding tour, linking the two years of performances.
