Don't Be A Dummy was recorded for a Lee Cooper jeans television advertisement in 1979. The advert featured a short jingle, approximately 30 seconds long, with Gary Numan providing the vocals during his Tubeway Army period.
The song was not composed by Numan. Ronnie Bond is credited as a writer; John Wilkinson also appears in some songwriting credits and warrants further verification against original documentation.
Numan's recording for the advertisement is distinct from the longer 1979 single recording by John Du Cann. The advert recording subsequently appeared on Tubeway Army reissues and compilations.
Archive classification: Written by another artist; Gary Numan as guest vocalist.
