Pre Tubeway Army Timeline
Tubeway
Army

I have spent a lot of time reading over things in print, typing up and trying to piece together those early years.
A lot of what is printed from numerous sources including websites, is conflicting and doesn't add up in relation to dates.
Below is a loose timetable as I have it for the moment.

1974

Gary & friends start a band called Crimson Lake

1975

Gary & friends have bands called Black Gold & Ginger Wine

1977

Early 1977 Gary starts a punk band
Band Members - Gary Webb (Vocals & Guitar) - Kenny Bishop (Drums)
Henri Sabini (Bass) - Neville Nixon (Guitar)

February - Crackers Night Club, London under the band name 'Riot'
March - Stanwell Moor Village Hall, Staines under the band name 'Heroin'
April - Ashfield College under the band name 'Stiletto'

Early May ? - At some point the band name becomes Mean Street
Early May - Rehearsal in Chelsea, Jeremy Harrington arrives on the scene and things don't go well.
Early May - Gary is Ejected from the band.
Mid May - Gary replies to an advert in Melody Maker as a guitarist. On sale on a Saturday (14th) ?
Mid May - Gary meets Paul Gardiner at a club in West Drayton (17th to 21st) ?

Late May - 1 gig is played as The Lasers possibly at The Bones Club, Reading
Band Members - Gary Webb (Vocals & Guitar) Paul Gardiner (Bass)
Wayne Kerr (Rhythm Guitar) - Unknown (Drums)

Early June Gary suggests a name change to the band and they become Tubeway Army
Early June, other band members think Gary's songs are too different
Early June, Paul and Gary leave the band taking the T/A name with them

Mid June, Gary meets Kevin St. John at The Roxy and arranges a gig for the 25th June mentioning Mean Street were playing.
The first Tubeway Army gig is played on that date, see 1977
